The Bar Council (more formally 'General Council of the Bar') is the representative and regulatory body for barristers in England. It defines a code of conduct for barristers generally, and sets out the requirements for training and qualification of new barristers. Note, however, that the Bar Council does not approve the nomination of new barristers; this responsibility falls to the four Inns of Court.
