The legal process controlling the transfer of property and land from one person to another. The term comes from the 'conveyance', a deed that formally transfers title to the land. However, modern practice is for the buyer and seller to form a contract to convey well before the actual conveyance is executed. This means that there is a certain protocol to be followed in conveyancing operations (see: conveyancing protocol for an outline of this).
