Under the Civil procedure rules civil cases are assigned to either the 'small claims track', 'Fast-track' or 'Multi-track'.

The fast-track procedure typically applies to claims that are too expensive for the small claims procedure, but less than 15,000. The characteristics are a fixed time to trial (within 30 weeks), and fixed trial costs.
