In a criminal trial, a formal admission is a statement offered by the accused, accepting responsibility for some or all the offences charged. This differs from a Confession, in that the latter may be made inadvertently, and may be denied by the accused. To be admissible (see: Admissibility Of Evidence) an admission must either be made orally in court, or in writing by or for the accused, and signed by the accused. Proof Evidence
