[1932] LR 8 QB 286. The plaintiff went to some effort and expense to attend an auction that was advertised. In the event, the action did not occur. He sued the auctioneer for expenses. The Court held that he had no cause of action: the advertisement was merely and Invitation to treat. See, however, the slightly different situation in a Auction without reserve.
