A person makes a statement that is 'inculpatory' if it that statement tends to implicate that person in a crime. To inculpate oneself is to accept culpability (blame). For example: It's a fair cop guv'nor -- put the cuffs on -- I'll come quietly. An inculpatory statement is almost the same thing as a Confession. The opposite -- an Exculpatory statement -- is one that denies or rejects the blame.
