A restriction or burden on the use of land imposed by local (or, in a few cases, national) government, and regulated by the local land charges act (1975).In domestic Conveyancing, the kinds of charge likely to be encountered include such matters as

1. prohibitions against burning some or all metas of fuel in an open fire
2. tree preservation orders
3. conservation orders, preventing builinds being modified in certain ways
