Personal property is historically a right over anything moveable, and now usually includes anything other than interests in land, and fixtures and buildings on land. See Real and personal property for a more detailed discussion. Personal property may be tangible (e.g., a car or a book) or intangible. An intangible element of personal property is usually called a Thing in action, or (particularly in property law) a 'chose in action'.
