This act sets out the basic procedures for the election of Members of Parliament and local government. It defines who is allowed to vote, how, and where. It also defines the process by which such elections are to be conducted. This is not the only Act with this title, or the latest, but it is the most comprehensive in that it consolidates a large amount of earlier legislation into one document.
