On aregistered title, the presence of a restriction indicates that the property can only be dealt with in a particular way, or with the approval of a particular person. The registrar will typically enter a restriction whenever the legal owners of the property are different from the beneficial owners under a Trust, so that a rogue Trustee cannot easily sell the property and do a runner with the proceeds.
