"Hearsay evidence is evidence contained in any out-of-court statement"

This isn't strictly speaking an all-encompassing view of hearsay, as hearsay can also be statements which are made in trials themselves (see: Finch 2007 CA and Johnson 2007 CA). Altering the post to include this info.

I also took the liberty of deleting the stuff about it being 2005 on the assumption that nobody thinks that it still is.
