A 'transfer' or 'deed of transfer' is the document executed in a sale of registered land to prove the change of ownership. In Unregistered conveyancing this deed is called a 'conveyance'. The different terminology may be important, because in registered conveyancing the transfer does not, in fact, transfer the legal title. It merely provides evidence of the new ownership, which becomes effect when it is registered.
